Who is running cardiometabolic trials

Among studies registered with a start date since 1 July 2026, the most frequent lead sponsors in cardiovascular disease are:

  1. Assiut University — 32 studies
  2. Mayo Clinic — 11 studies
  3. Silvia Ulrich Somaini — 8 studies
  4. University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center — 7 studies
  5. Assistance Publique – Hôpitaux de Paris — 7 studies
  6. University of Alabama at Birmingham — 7 studies

University hospitals and academic centres lead the count, and the list is more international than people tend to assume — a reminder that the registry covers studies worldwide, not only those run in the United States.

Counting records is not counting scale

A sponsor running thirty small single-centre studies appears far more active than one running a single trial across forty countries. Frequency in the registry measures how often an organisation registers a study, which is a different question from how much research it is doing.

Counts taken from the ClinicalTrials.gov API on 7 October 2026, covering studies with a registered start date on or after 1 July 2026. Registry numbers move as records are added and updated, so treat them as a snapshot rather than a fixed figure.
